Day 4: October 13, 2017 (Lauan-Bugasong-San Jose-Hamtic)

Auntie Kekel cooked breakfast and insisted to eat before leaving. They asked about my itenerary and told me I can spend a night with our relative in Hamtic since I am heading to Anini-iy. No contact number, they gave the full name and some instructions how to find the house. Uncle also pick some guavas and bananas (backyard fruits) for me as "pabaon". The food was enough to be fed for 3days but of course I still need to eat rice for a balanced meal.

We took photos for remembrance. First stop is Bugasong, I drop by and say Hi to their son whose store centrally located in the town but did not stay long since I am expecting a long day ride considering the weather.

I lost my tripod remote so not easy to take pictures. Yohann advised I can explore the use of timer so I slowly learned how to explore this settings. I am always holding the phone only for facebook and messaging but rarely explore other uses. I'm still not comfortable using google maps. I rest for a while eating banana and bread for lunch.

I was trying to spend a night in San Jose but still early and good weather when I arrived in town. Most accomodation reply late regarding their rates so I moved forward to Hamtic so that I can only cycle few kilometers the next day. I followed the same strategy looking for host but this time more awkward because they even don't know my parents. The good thing about cycling in the province are less private properties, less subdivisions so easier to look around and asked. In a small town, almost everyone know each other and helping stranger not that scary compared in the city.

When I reached 1barangay before Guinsang-an I bought siomai and Ice candy on the road to refill my energy. I also trying to check my scratches at my back for accidentally falling down from a chair in one of a waiting shed while trying to check google maps to estimate remaining kilometer. The strong winds makes me cycle slow because against my direction.
This is where I got my back scratches

I arrived at my host place around 6pm and they welcome me openly but with some confusion. I called Auntie Kekel and she talked with Leah. They are close enough to make me stay comfortable.

We had conversations over dinner regarding my cycling trip and shared stories about a choice to a basic and simple life. The appreciation of gardening fruits for personal consumption and healthy lifestyle. People innate goodness and happiness. Leah is single and made a fantastic job taking care of niece and nephew so kids parents can worked in Manila. They both academically achiever's in school. It's culturally filipino style of helping each other and this is the kind of system that works for us based on current social norms.

I had a good night sleep after dinner.
